03.30.2020 - Yonder Window Theatre Company livestream

On March 30th, Moore PA Hire produced a livestream for Yonder Window Theatre Company. Broadcast on Facebook, Youtube, and their website to premiere the director's cut recording of their latest show "The Dream Project 3.0, Montreal". Let's jump into this case study.

This was opportunity for our Production Bot to flex its muscles. The livestream consisted of premiering the hour long recording of the theatre show, complete with ad-breaks, followed by a 5 person panel answering questions fielded from their viewers on Facebook and Youtube. The director's cut recording and all the ad content was served from within the Production Bot via vMix. The 5 panelists joined via vMix Call. This involves them simply navigating to vmixcall.com and entering a password provided by our TD. From there their webcam and microphone arrives in the Production Bot in NYC as camera input, ready to be mixed into the show like any other input. The panelists' laptop becomes their confidence monitor, with the feed being independently addressable by our TD. All "camera inputs" were combined into a supersource so all panelists can be seen and heard at the same time using "virtual sets" created by a combination of vMix and Moore PA Hire. From there we simply needed to add lower-third graphics and mix the audio.

The audio was mixed using (1) iPad Air 3 running vMix Virtual Control Surface.

The final element was grabbing questions left in the comments on Facebook and Youtube, and bringing them into our live production. For this we used vMix Social. The interface was operated by one of the panelists moderating the stream, while she was on the stream! While live, joining from Florida, she could send comments to the Production Bot which would arrive as a lower third ready for overlay, displaying the askers question, Facebook name, and profile photo.

In keeping with CDC guidelines on the Coronavirus Pandemic, Moore PA Hire designed a workflow that kept safety and social distancing at the core. The Production Bot and A1 were in NYC, the TD cut the show remotely from Florida, and the panelists joined from their own homes in Tampa, Montreal, and Mexico City.
